A Most Fantastic Truth – “I Don’t Know”

This fact is not only a personally freeing truth, it delivers license for us to free the binding that would otherwise exist in our relationships — in God’s name.

This truth is such a basic thing we’re quickly forgetting it, missing its power...

This truth is:

I don’t know – you don’t know – we don’t know

We don’t know what we don’t know.

We know less than we think we know.

***

It, the actual acceptance of this truth into our manner of living, will free us. This is the easiest basis from which to acquire humility. No matter how ‘smart’ we get we cannot see through another person’s eyes, feel their heart or identify with their worldview — not totally, not ultimately — only conditionally, momentarily; if we ‘meet’ them not knowing them.

The more we accept and assimilate this truth the more we’ll know God in the breadth and depth of our relationships.

Ripped immediately from our grasp are all barriers of the God-barren ego — those things of assumption, arrogance and ignorance — and replaced is the God-readied sense of place in life where all proper things begin.

The fact of God in Jesus of Nazareth — this most fantastic truth — is we don’t need to know.

The rubber will hit the road in our relationships when we regularly ask others — within ourselves — as we meet them, “Please help me understand the world from your perspective.”
